1.5 hour over 8 weeks
*ADO: For Secondary students enrolled in Year 7 to YEar 10.
Four levels, from beginners to independent users (1 to 4 years of French)
ADO 1 – Thu 4.30pm to 6.00pm
ADO 2 – Tue 4.30pm to 6.00pm
ADO 3 – Mon 4.30pm to 6.00pm
ADO 4 – Wed 4.30pm to 6.00pm
*VCE/IB: Specially designed for Year 11 and 12 students, these courses help them to ease their way towards the final exam.
VCE Unit 1&2 – Thu 4.30pm to 6.00pm
VCE Unit 3&4 – Wed 4.30pm to 6.00pm

*CONVERSATION CLASSES: For advanced students who wish to practice their French and to feel more confortable with their oral skills.

FRENCH IMMERSION DAY
A special VCE Preparation “Immersion Day” will be held at the Alliance Française in March 2010, for Year 11 and Year 12 students.
Throughout the day, four workshops will cover the four sections of the VCE examination (General Conversation, Detailed Study, Oral Comprehension & Reading Comprehension) and students will receive personal feedback from their teacher.
Date: Saturday the 20th of March, 9.00am to 7.00pm
Fees: $130, including a “French-style” lunch and a musical show.
Be quick as numbers are limited!
Other similar immersion days will be held later in the year (in June and September) with a different focus each time (i.e. oral skills, reading & writing...).

stages towards mastering the French language
and culture
Outcomes:
Introductory
Users (Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Outcome : You can understand and use
familiar everyday expressions and very basic
phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of
a concrete type. Yo can introduce yourself and
others and can ask and answer questions about
personal details such as where you live, people
you know and things you have. You can interact
in a simple way provided the other person talks
slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Elementary Users (Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Outcome : You can understand sentences
and frequently used expressions related to areas
of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic
personal and family information, shopping, local
geography, employment). You can communicate
in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple
and direct exchange of information on familiar
and routine matters. You can describe in simple
terms aspects of your background, immediate
environment and matters in areas of immediate
need.
Independent Users (Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Outcome : You can understand the main
points of clear standard input on familiar matters
regularly encountered in work, school, leisure,
etc. you can deal with most situations likely
to arise whilst travelling in an area where
the language is spoken. You can produce simple
connected text on topics which are familiar
or of personal interest. You can describe experiences
and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and
briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions
and plans.
Advanced Users (Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Outcome : You can understand the main
ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract
topics, including technical discussions in your
field of specialisation. You can interact with
a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes
regular interaction with native speakers quite
possible without strain for either party. You
can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range
of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical
issue giving the advantages and disadvantages
of various options.
